"Music can change the world because it can change the people." - Bono

So I've wanted to do this for a really long time but I just haven't had the time to put together February and January yet, but stay tuned! However, here is the top 10 songs that I've loved in the month of March. Hope you can find some new music to get into!
This post is inspired by the blog Bambi Beauty and Will Darbyshire also does something similar on his spotify!

My Song.

October 29, 2014

"Ah music," he said, wiping his eyes. "A magic beyond all we do here!"  - Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (JK Rowling).

I don't know if this is a thing that everyone does, but in my family when each of us was born my dad sung us a song and it became "our song." So my song is 'Little Ray of Sunshine' (1970) by Axiom. When ever I listen to this song it sort of gives me faith in my parents, that they actually know what they'e doing and it makes me feel really special, because when you listen to this lyrics it's such a beautiful song about the relationship between a father and his daughter.

There are so many beautiful old classic songs with such wonderful lyrics, but this one really stands out to me and it's impossible to be in a bad mood if this song is on. It really does make you think how much your parents really do care about you, how much sacrifice they put in to raise you and how much your parents really love you.

Music is so powerful and it is indescribable how special someone's song is to them. I know right now, and I always have that I will give each of my children a song, because especially during the teenage years when one's identity is questioned having a song can really bring you back down to earth and remind you where you belong, remind you who you are where you came from.

Multiply.

"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent." - Victor Hugo

So a couple blog posts ago I mentioned that I recently purchased Ed Sheeran's album: Multiply. I know I am a bit late to jump on this band wagon, but this album has made the last couple of weeks a lot more bearable.

This album, like most of Ed's music is able to speak to people on such a different level and his music is so relaxing and peaceful. I used to only listen to music that was very go go go with a beat  and that you can dance to, but both this and the Winterbourne album (plus Nicole) has made me appreciate the beauty of quiet music.

If you haven't just take a listen to the album and then go buy it because the music is just too good and I have actually been listening to it in bed at night and I have found I'm actually sleeping a lot better, is that weird? That Ed Sheeran's music is he long me get to sleep at night.

But overall a killer album and 10/10 would recommend taking a minute (you really need more) to appreciate good music, to understand the power of music and the power of people.

All But the Sun.

"People haven't always been there for me, but music always has." - Taylor Swift

Music is something special to every person, and I think it's a true sign of a good record when you can remember the exact moment you played it for the first time. The first moment you grabbed that CD off the shelf or clicked 'Buy Now' on your iPod. If you can remember this, then you will definitely relate to what I'm saying about the power of music.

If you saw my blog post from Monday then you will know that I recently picked up Winterbourne's EP 'All But the Sun' and ladies and gentlemen I have an addiction. This CD has not left my CD player since I have bought it and I am honestly obsessed with their EP.

My friend Nicole used to get quite frustrated with me because I was very set in my way with my music, preferring my parents classics and my set collection, but as usual she has such a positive impact on me and my my music taste has widened greatly. I now listen to so many different types of music and my distinct dislike for both rap and slow music has gradually declined.

That's where this post has come from, the idea of great music. I know I raved about Winterbourne in Monday's post but that was before I had even listened to the EP. This style of music is so calming and honestly has some of my new favourite songs, I listen to it whilst I'm studying or just lying in bed and it really can change my mood, I think that says a lot about a song or a group of songs, if they can be so powerful it can change your entire day.

Music is such a individual and unique thing and I've never found a person whose music taste exactly mirrors my own, and for this specific reason I'm trying to be more tolerant of different styles of music, because I know how much blood, sweat and tears goes into creating a record.

There is something so special about being able to flip through your old CDs or your iTunes library and remember the reason why you loved those songs, the reason why they were so important to you. I still remember getting my iPod shuffle and playing to death 'Circus' by Britney Spears and 'Single Ladies' by Beyonce.

Music truly is in a person's soul and if you can appreciate good music or have the ability to share good music, then you should! If your voice, no matter how big or small can launch someone's career then I think you should share their music. You don't understand the power we have as individuals today, some of my friends performed an old Fleetwood Mac song during my school's talent quest a few months ago and my sister has not stopped listening to the song since. We have so much power as individuals and in this modern world. We are given the 'gift' of a voice which so many others don't have and due to social media we can share our voice with those across the world.

Our generation has been entrusted to change the world, it's our responsibility to fix the mess made by previous generations, and I think that's really scary.
When did it become my job to fix the world?? I'm only 17!
But if we have the ability to share great music or great pictures then maybe we do have the power to change the world. Maybe we can end the pain and suffering that occurs across our world, and maybe we can be the solution to the world's problems, but I guess if we have been entrusted with such a big responsibility, then I'm sure no one would mind if we listened to some great music along the way.

If you wanted to, feel free to leave any music suggestions in the comments below, and I definitely recommend taking a listen to 'All About the Sun', even if it's just the previews on iTunes.
